Ideal for trail walks, and everyday wear, these men’s Merrell Speed Strike 2 Mid olive (green) trail hiking sneakers are perfect for conquering any terrain. Made of synthetic leather and mesh upper with a waterproof member to help deal out water, these vegan-friendly wide width hikers have a round toe and secure lace-up closure. A Bellows tongue helps keep out debris. The padded collar, recycled breathable mesh lining, 50% recycled removable EVA foam footbed, and EVA foam midsole provide sustainable comfort and stability. A sticky rubber outsole ensure good grip while you’re out adventuring.

Great hiker shoe for exploring

So far loving the shoe. It’s not quite a true ankle boot / hiker as I was looking for but it fits great and easy to wear. Just got back from vacation where I did a lot of walking and exploring and these were comfortable all day long. They also breathed and kept my feet not overly hot while in Dominican Republic which ya is humid and hot. But also comfortable with thick socks back home in the north. Would buy again. Tread is surprisingly adaptive to dirt trails and not so slippery on the snow and ice either. Very happy and what I expect from Merrell

Excellent Comfort and Support for Harsh Winter Con

My 66-year-old father, who refuses to retire, purchased these boots for everyday wear during a brutal winter filled with freezing temperatures and heavy snow. He couldn’t be happier with the quality and comfort. Having undergone knee replacement surgery in both knees, proper footwear is extremely important to him, and these boots deliver excellent support. He wears them daily and feels confident and comfortable in them. Highly recommend!

The only thing keeping these from getting five stars is the fact that they are really not waterproof at all. They fit great, very comfortable, good traction, love wearing them, but my feet get wet if going through even a little bit of moisture. Definitely would not be good for a long-distance hike through damp terrain. The waterproof claim was a big part of the decision to get these shoes, so it is pretty disappointing.

Bellows tongue issues

I have worn Merrells everyday for the last 20+ years and this is the first pair I have ever been disappointed with. The seams and folds of the bellows tongue make them painful/uncomfortable to wear. I have tried thick winter socks and wearing them loose but they still irratate the top of my foot. Not sure if it's a design flaw or a manufacturing issue. I would recommend trying them on in store before buying.

Really happy with the Merrell Speed Strike 2 Wide. Super comfortable right out of the box, and surprisingly light for a hiking boot. The fit is excellent — easily one of the best I’ve found for wide feet. No tight spots or discomfort, just a solid, secure feel all around. If you’ve struggled to find hiking boots that actually fit wide feet well, this one’s worth checking out.

Comfy, sturdy winter protection

Merrell brand had never steered me wrong. Having 13 wide feet usually limits my footwear options, but not when I buy Merrell. The insoles are comfy, the lining keeps my feet warm against the winter cold, and they're easy to take on and off. Bonus that they were in a nice shade of green, for a little splash of color in a world of black, brown or Grey winter boots. Cheers!

Nice shoe with a design flaw

I purchased these shoes for a trip in Portugal. I loved the colour and the design. However, there is a major design flaw with the tongue that causes extreme pain in the upper part of your foot. After wearing them for 5 days, I had to purchase another pair of shoes to continue my trip. After searching the internet, I realized this is a design flaw with this model.

Found my fit
a year ago
I have finally found a shoe with a comfortable, waterproof fit for my wide feet. So far I am using them for a 10,000 steps a day dog walking regimen. Hiking across city pavement, wet grass, sand and some rocky trails. Once I found the correct lace tension they were very comfortable, kept my toes dry and seemed to have pretty good grip.
