Sam Edelman Women's Loraine Loafer

Very happy with these. I’ve worn them once and while they fit snugly (no room for even thin socks), they did not need any breaking in. After reading reviews, I order a half size smaller than my typical size and I’m glad I did. Like I said, they are very snug, but if they were bigger I think they may have rubbed and been uncomfortable. The toe box is long and on the narrow side but the material is forgiving. I have a job where I’m walking a fair bit during the day and found the shoes very comfortable. I’m really happy with the purchase and how they dress up an outfit.

These shoes are beautiful no doubt. The sizing is somewhat odd to me. I'm a size US 8. I ordered a half size down to be safe after reading reviews about them running large. However, they were still too large on my feet. Perhaps I should have gone a whole size down. But then I also read reviews where some did that and then they ran too small, so I’m really unsure with sizing of these shoes. My plan is to buy another pair in a different color, but I'll go with a half size smaller and add an insole to ensure the perfect fit. I hope this review is helpful.

This is my second time returning the loafers for a smaller size. I own 3 pair of Sam Edelman shoes 2 sneakers and the riding boots all in 10.5; the Loafers have very positive reviews and the brand is good quality but, this style of shoe looks so long and masculine that I believe they made the women shoe on a man’s mold, I will be seeing how the right size looks and feel on my feet and decide if it is worth to keep it. If you like this style shoe order 1 size down I returned the first time for 0.5 size down thinking that because I already have this brand 0.5 size was reasonable but I have to return them one more time they are big on my feet I will be returning for 1 size down 9.5 and I will update how the right size feels and look on my feet.

This is my second pair of the Loraine bit loafer. I'm not normally a flat-shoe person. Have a hard time finding flats that feel good. The Loraine is a good one. They are comfortable on the first wear, and break in quickly to become even better. The style is polished and classic, but still casual. I like them with wide leg slack ala Bette Davis or Katherine Hepburn, or with straight leg jeans. I'm glad they make them in many colors. I have white and the saddle tan. For ref, I am an 8.5 Medium and find them tts.

I have always loved the Loraine loafer and have bought them in bulk. I am so disappointed to report that the latest pair I bought in the color Saddle Leather are NO LONGER made of all leather. The materials used to all say "leather", now it says the "sock" and "balance" are "man made." This makes the shoe completely different -- I had huge blisters after the first day and even after three wears, they still aren't comfortable. These used to feel like butter and now they feel like plastic. I am SO disappointed.

I was worried that because these shoes are leather, they would require a “break in” period before they got comfortable (a la Sperry topsiders or Jack Rogers). However, these shoes were buttery soft right out of the box! They are extremely comfortable and I had no blisters even after walking around in them for 4+ miles all day at a huge state college campus. I’ve received so many compliments on these shoes already, can’t wait to buy them in more colors!

I am a size 5 in all my shoes and based on other reviews I sized down to a 4.5. Yes it was snug on arrival but after 30 minutes with a pair of thin socks on I found the loafer to be perfectly stretched for my feet. I would suggest sizing down only if your shoes become too big with regular wear. I also consider these to be narrow cut in the toe box. Overall love and will be adding new colors to my shoe collection soon.
