The classic is dead. An era has ended.
Classic all stars are excellent. Worn dozens for 49 years. Bought 2 new pair yesterday and they have been updated, and not in a good way. The interior is no longer cotton, but some poly mesh, and the insole if a thin removable wafer that does not give any support. The laces are shorter and the sergerd edges are done in a poly thread instead of cotton. These do not breathe. The weight and feel is gone. The classic All-Stars, Chuck Taylors, and others are not what they have always been. The quality has been sacrificed for cost savings in production. 40 years and likely over 100 pairs, I have worn and worn out. And I returned them today. Do not buy them.

Rubber patch on the tongue is uncomforta
What would possess you to put a rubber patch across the place where you tie your shoes? I can't get my laces tied tight enough, the laces slip under the patch so there's no give. As if fighting heal rub isn't enough, now it's rubbing at my ankle, too. I own over 40 pairs of chuck's, some over 40 years old, and it's going to be a while before I add any more. I was planning on wearing these all summer, I doubt if I wear them at all. Going to have to buy a pair of Nike's for summer walking now. I had these on for a half an hour and there's no way I could walk all day in them with that stupid rubber patch rubbing across my ankle.

Always wanted a pair of black all-stars
Finally got some to wear to a stadium concert. It was a very long day and they were quite comfortable. The tongue kept drifting to the side until I reworked the laces through that loop and then they stayed in place just fine. They are a different kind of fit, so I tried some on in a local store to get the size right then ordered the color I wanted online. Half a size larger than my regular sneakers to make sure I had room around the toe area where there's no give with that solid material. Perfect with my favorite jeans. People have some weird suggestions online for cleaning them. Toothpaste and handsoap; have to try that one.

Love them despite the tongue issue
Long time Chuck wearer. I love these shoes and they are perfect for my old lady orthotics and arch supports since they have flat bottoms. Giving four stars because the tongue is too long and it rubs the front of my ankle. I compared with an older pair and the tongues weren’t always this long so I’m not sure when they thought lengthening that was necessary but I wish they’d shorten it again. I work around it by tying the laces BEHIND the tongue to keep it away from the skin but it would be cool to not have to worry about front ankle blisters. Still, I’ve been wearing these for too long to give up on them. Would buy again, I’ll just whine about the tongue when I do.

Wide is the answer!
I ordered Wide (women's size 8) in these and was concerned they might be sloppy and loose like other brands I've purchased in Wide, but they are not at all sloppy. Can't even tell the difference in the look of the shoe compared to my other Converse. They are incredibly comfortable, more comfortable than most of my others (10 pairs). Oddly, there is no designation or marking anywhere on the shoe or box that indicates these are wide. The difference in width is minimal but perfect for my feet, just enough to not pinch, and enough to be totally comfy. SUPER happy with the fit on these, I will be ordering wides from now on!

COLOR and COMFORT
They do run big, I wear an 8 regular, and I followed the instructions and ordered 7.5. I wore these all day and only started to get a rub mark late evening. I had been concerned about the smaller size and wearing them all day....I didn't blister, so, for the length of time I wore them, the fit was perfect.
And, can't beat the color, my fave!!
Screaming KELLY GREEN!!!! YEAH
I grew up in the era when you could get white, black and red. Eventually navy blue. But now, the flood gates of color and print have opened up! Kudos Converse! And, the new comfort level is something I, as an adult need and enjoy!!

love but need removable insole
I love these shoes: they look great with everything you could possibly want to wear and come in endless colors, especially with the custom option. Like many, I have multiple pairs. But please, please stop gluing the insoles in. I still have several pairs from a few years ago that didn't have them glued in so I can slip in my own insoles. The insoles in Chuck 70s apparently aren't glued in but I really REALLY don't like the off-white midsoles. The insoles in the latest all stars are glued in so heavily I have to take them to a cobbler to remove, and even he can't get it completely out. Please, stop gluing them in? Or give us an option in the custom build to not do it?

Classic and comfy
I been a fan of these classic chucks since I was a kid...I stopped wearing them for some time because after my pregnancies my foot became wider and chucks were to narrow for my wide foot!! But, I discovered that now they make them in wide width! I was amazed and immediately ordered a pair. OMG! I was amazed when I tried them on! They were wide enough for my foot and comfortable from the start. I wore them to my trip to Chicago where I did plenty of walking and my new chucks were super comfortable... I didn't have to wear my Adidas cloudfoam.
Thanks converse! Please never stop making them in wide! I am in love!
