Birkenstock Women's Madrid Sandal

I ended up returning them. they are a great and much better alternative to the flip flop. there is the footbed and cushioning and they rise off easily. they also seem sturdy. and yet... I wore them around the house for a few hours and the band/strap across the foot started to feel restrictive and became painful. I have many Birkenstocks, all of them with leather upper and love them all. I never had that problem with any of them. I do not have wide feet either so I am not sure why they became less comfortable. Maybe the material has less give and is not as soft as my regular Birkenstocks. that said, they are much better for the feet than regular flat flip flops.

These shoes are great! they're a PERFECT sandal. The strap is adjustable so if you have narrow or wide feet, you can adjust to the perfect fit. The ONLY reason I didn't give 5 stars is because they do not 1/2 sizes. I'm a 7 1/2 and the 7 was just a BIT snug...I felt my heal and toe were hanging over a bit. I ended up getting the 8, but it's too long, so I feel it looks like i'm wearing someone else's shoes. I got the navy and those are cute and different. I did get a blister the 1st couple of times i wore them, but nothing new with new shoes.

My daughter and I have worn various Birkenstocks for years, so I was excited to see a summer shoe -far less expensive- and colorful! That said, they do not fit like Birkenstocks usually do--they are narrower even on the farthest buckle setting, and are also a bit longer than usual. So sizing up to accommodate the narrow width won't solve the problem. Bummer. PS Wearing the shoe around the house as opposed to more challenging distances to minimize the owies. (BTW I would recommend this shoe primarily to a friend with a narrow foot!!)

These Birkenstock sandals are super Comfy! They are not like the usual Birkenstock with the "cork" sole. They feel like a cushion for your feet. Like every Birkenstock sandal, they run wide, but are adjustable. They tend to run a bit big. I normally wear shoes size US 6 or 6.5 and in sandals/Flip-Flops a size US 7. I am a European/German size 37, so I chose the size US 6 and it fits PERFECT (After adjusting the width). Refer to the size chart of this sandal, it tell you exactly the size you should choose.

These are so cute, and I wanted to love them. I was initially worried I would not find them comfortable because I have VERY flat (inverted) feet, and Birkenstocks are usually "built out" with arch supports, toe support, etc. However, that ended up being the least of my concerns. The bed where your foot lays is recessed, and the raised edges bothered my toes. Additionally, with the front of the sandal being a little bit wider they seem to not stay on "straight." Sadly, I will be returning these.

I purchased these sandals for a cruise I went on a couple weeks ago. I purchased these in-store, and I'm glad I did. I typically wear a size 7, but it was very long on my foot. They did not have size 6 in red (the color I wanted to purchase), so I tried on a size 5. My toes touch the front edge and my heel touches the back edge of the sandals but the material is so forgiving and soft that the size 5 was perfect for me. On board the ship, the sandals were great to walk around on the wet deck without slipping at all. And nice enough that I was comfortable wearing them with a skirt to dinner. I will say I have a narrow foot and these shoes are a bit wide for me, but the buckle is helpful in tightening them up a bit so they aren't sloppy on my feet. I really hope they come out with more colors!

I now have three pairs of this style. Two are one size and the third is one size smaller. Yet they fit very much the same. I find that the length and width are not all the same, but I do find them very comfortable. My feet hate most shoes, so when I find something that I can wear and not have pain - I get more than one pair. They feel a trifle strange when you first put them on, but once you start walking a bit, they are great. And the price, especially on sale, is great as well.
