Don't do it
These shoes are the worst pair of Merrells I have bought. Got a pair back in April and I have tried to send them back for tearing on the upper inside part of the shoe and have been told they are not eligible. Also they ARE not waterproof. Walk through morning dew on the grass and my feet are wet.

My new favorite shoe
Love these shoes! Fit perfect and were extremely comfortable. I bought them for my trip to Norway and Sweden recently. They were the perfect choice of footwear for rainy hiking in Norway, kept my feet dry, and tons of city walking in Stockholm. I would recommend these to anyone looking for comfortable, waterproof, hiking shoes.

Very happy with the purchase
I like the green color with orange laces. It's a lightweight shoe which made it easy to pack. Water-resistant, but will require the occasional water-proofing spray touch up.

Not waterproof
They were very comfortable but my feet got wet when they are supposed to be waterproof.I didn't even step in a puddle,only wet grass.

Sturdy Hiking Shoe
These were comfortable out of the box. They seem very well made and have a great tread on them. Best of all, they have kept my feet 100% dry so far. Walking through wet grass and shallow puddles is no longer a problem.

Good but not great
Hiked trails in Tucson, all good. Now doing West Highland Way in Scotland. Some technical parts of the trail and the toe section has a bit too much give. Also, not exactly sturdy enough in the top, it gives a bit much too.

As advertised and expected
I wanted a pair of spring-to-fall mid-weight hiker rather than true hikers or trail running shoes. The size 9 fit was correct for me. I liked the good grip of the deep tread, support of the feet and arch. Mid-height hiker would offer better ankle support and waterproofing, but at the expense of bulk and weight. I consider these durable and average priced. They were advertised as waterproof but not Gore-tex, They did the job with drizzle, sprinkles of rain, and small puddles, but my feet were soaked after 3 hours of walking in constant rain. It took 2 days to dry out these shoes. Next time I will give them a waterproof spray and wear longer rain pants.

Great all-around shoes
These waterproof, everyday shoes fut great and are super comfortable. I hesitated to buy them because my last Merrill shoes didn't fit well; it seemed one shoe was slightly to tight. But the Speed Strike is the real deal.

Perfect!
The tag said waterproof and they weren't lying! I've worn these everyday for work, where I'm on my feet all day and walking through snow to estimate vehicles. My feet stay dry, warm and comfortable. Definitely worth it!

Comfy and great for snow
So far these have been great in the cold, snowy winter. They seem to be waterproof as advertised and are relatively comfortable. They work well for shoveling and are comfortable enough to wear to quick trips to stores, etc. I wouldn't want to wear them all day long. I specifically went with the all black version of these since they look like sneakers not something you'd wear to climb Everest. I recommend them.
