What has Clark's done to their shoes??? Ugh!!!!

I've worn Clark's forever, so now that it's time to replace them, I found this cute pair. OMG. Blister city. I tried on so many pairs of Clark's, and every single one has this weird insole thing; I even tried on different insoles. This particular shoe has this elastic on the inner foot area that almost immediately gave me blisters. Returned.
