Not Waterproof

I'm so disappointed with the Moab 3 boots. I've only had them for 6 months and they are no longer waterproof. I have only lightly used them over the winter months so it was a very unpleasant surprise when I went on a slightly rainy spring, 2 mile, hike and my feet were soaked. There was so much water in the boots that I had to pour it out. I had a pair of Moab 3 boots 4 years ago and they stayed mostly waterproof until they were just too worn out to continue wearing.

I wore these to go hiking in the Rocky Mountains on a 8.5 mile trail up and down flattop mountain - I fell three times on the hike as the shoe laces would get caught on the opposite shoe's metal eyelets. Aside from breaking a few fingernails and scraping my palms, I was uninjured. However, I shudder to think what could have happened if I wore them on my visit to the Grand Canyon. While they were comfortable for the hike, I do not recommend as I feel it is dangerous if you go on more treacherous trails. I ended up losing my two large toenails a month after the hike but that is my fault for not sizing a size up and ordering my true size.

Kept my feet dry!

Moabs have been my go to hiking boot for several years now and they hardly ever disappoint! Overall, these have been no exception although I did notice that this version (Moab 3 waterproof) seems to run about a half size smaller so I had to exchange my original order for a half size up. These boots kept my feet perfectly dry and warm while on a 4 day backpacking trip in the Great Smoky Mountains in pretty constant rain/wet conditions including walking through some pretty big puddles. They continue to require very little to no break in either, my feet felt perfectly fine on an 8 mile hike wearing these straight out of the box (once I got the correct size).

Yes, I recommend this product.

Pretty comfy

Wore them for the first time hiking a segment of the IAT in WI. They were pretty good. I did almost 6 miles but my little toe on one foot was sore and the other foot was a bit sore. Could be just breaking in time is needed. Wore my other pair of Merrells in Spain doing 62 miles of the Camino, and after 3 years of hiking and that trip they were done. Which is why I bought some new ones. I could tell the difference right away, my new Merrells were quite cushioned and comfortable. I will wait and see if they do better. I'm hoping so as I plan to take them back to Spain next year to do more walking on the Camino de Santiago.

Are the designs changed? Ouch arch pain

I have had the Erie Waterproof Suede Hiking Boots for 2 years and hiked in them on various terrains for even 4-5 hour hikes on a twice monthly basis. They were amazing, super comfortable and durable. I couldn't stop recommending Merrell. Then I bought these Moab 3 Mid on Canadian Black Friday sale and finally used them for two easy and short hikes in January. They were both easy hikes that lasted only 1-2 hours long. The arch of my left foot started hurting so bad after the first hike and my left knee and back ached after second hike. Really sad about this experience. Now I'll have to try some insoles or give them away.

Happy Hiker

Needing a pair of waterproof boots for a trip to Scotland in January, I turned to Merrell since I have been a longtime wearer of Merrell athletic shoes. After reading reviews, I ordered a half size up (thanks, folks!) and was very pleased with my purchase. I wore these boots almost every day while in Scotland, traipsing around in rain and snow (and puddles!) - these boots were so comfortable that I honestly didn’t even pay attention to my feet, nor how much I had walked/hiked. They kept my feet dry, and were extremely comfortable. I used my own orthotics in them since I am 60 years old and have foot issues, and I had literally no problems with my feet on this trip.

Moab boots for the El Camino trail in late May

I went in late May to Spain to walk the El Camino pilgrimage from Sarria to Santiago de Computula. It was 40-45 the first half of the trip, raining most of the day and I was fine because my feet were dry, warm and supported by the boots. I saw many people in Hoka running shoes sinking in the muddy trail and others with other types of shoes at the cafe on the trial treating their feet from blisters---but not me. My feet were very comfortable and I was able to walk the varied terrain that is called a "trail" which means up and down hill, muddy ravines, stepping in stones to cross a stream and all were no problem!

Moab 3 mid waterproof bungee cord color

This pair was a Christmas gift, bought yesterday, 12/17/22. I wore them all day today, just took them off. I LOVE THEM!! I am already thinking about buying another pair in a different color lol. I found them extremely comfortable, definitely waterproof since I was outside today in the snow quite a bit. My feet never got cold. I am 58 years old, they did great on the ice. Looking forward to some deer hunting after Christmas while wearing these boots. No break in needed, great right out of the box. True to size, plenty of room in a medium width for a heavy sock. No, I do not have skinny feet. Thank you for such a great boot! I also received moab 3 shoe yesterday, I love them too ❤️

Yes, I recommend this product.
